I'd love to write about all the wonderful things I've been up to during 2012 but there weren't any. Anyhow, I'm still alive so I suppose that's a good thing. My little cat Tasha is well and is now nearly 11 years old.
I'm hoping to keep revisiting LiveJournal this year but I'm not making any promises.
I hope that any of my friends on here who read this are well - I haven't forgotten any of you. xxx
Well, I had hoped to keep up with LJ last year but the best laid plans and all that ...
Hope to do better this year. I am determined that my life will improve from this point as I'm fed up with it being the way it has been.
I've got nothing interesting to report so not much to say really.
I hope all my friends on here are well and happy and I will endeavour to catch up with everyone asap.
Unfortunately, violence broke out in other parts of England. Purely criminal acts of violence, theft and vandalism.
I don't know how we, as a country, come back from this. :(
I went out in search of a pint of milk but every single shop in my area is closed and boarded up.
In my local High Street, (main street where all the bigger shops are), not only are the shops closed and boarded up but there are groups of police every fifty yards or so and they are stopping and questioning every male under the age of 30 to check what they are up to, where they are going etc.
Everyone is battening down the hatches in the fear that trouble will kick--off again tonight.
I will keep you posted.
Gangs of youths breaking into shops and stealing whatever they wanted knowing that the police wouldn't be able to stop them. Burning cars and buildings just for the sake of it. Generally running riot and causing chaos and devastation wherever they went. Vandalising and destroying anything and everything for no reason at all. Buildings burnt out and people made homeless, businesses destroyed. More and more pockets of this behaviour breaking out in lots of different areas.
I have to say, I felt scared. More so when I heard the sirens locally and then the police helicopter as trouble broke out in an area just a couple of miles from where I live.
Hundreds, possibly thousands, of young people just completely out of control. The police not really able to cope with it.
I'm dreading tonight.
Sadly, I'm not fluent in any other language than my own simply because I've never had the opportunity to speak with anyone on a regular basis.
I can, however, get by in French and German. I have a little knowledge of Italian and a few words and phrases in Spanish.
Over the last few years I've learnt some Mandarin Chinese, Farsi and recently have been learning a little Russian but I find it extremely difficult to pronounce.
I've met a very nice woman who lives near me who is Polish so have been learning a few words of that, but again, I find it difficult to pronounce.
I would love to be fluent in at least one other language and I think French is the most likely but Italian would be my second choice as I love both languages.
I hope this isn't just another one off like last time.
I've really been missing LJ.
I'm going to take time to catch up with all my friends journals and see what's been happening.
I'm not sure what miracle is allowing it to happen today!
